Helping children through play
Unlike adults, children are not able to talk about their feelings or problems. That is why conventional “talk” therapy can be frustrating for children and their families. Children are emotional beings and naturally process their thoughts and feelings through their play. When children get stuck in unhelpful thought patterns and behaviours, Play Therapy can support your child to work through and overcome their problems in a way that is meaningful and effective.
Play Therapy is recommended for children experiencing a variety of symptoms including:
Highly sensitive children
Child anxiety
Autism Spectrum Disorders
ADHD and ODD
Power struggles
Sadness and depression
Trauma
Low self-esteem
Divorce and family changes
Eating and food issues
Academic difficulties
Dysregulated behaviour
What to Expect
In Play Therapy children learn the skills to cope with life’s challenges, and parents learn systems and frameworks to address daily parenting challenges with confidence.
Child-Centred Play Therapy is for families who are deeply invested in their children’s emotional wellbeing and who understand the importance of relationships built on respect, trust and connection.
